James Liu, MD, Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - UH Cleveland Medical Center

James H. Liu, MD, completed his BS summa cum laude at Ohio State University (OSU), in Columbus, in 1974 and his MD degree at OSU School of Medicine, also in Columbus, in 1977. He completed his internship in 1978 and his obstetrics and gynecology residency in 1981, both at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital, in New York State. Dr. Liu completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology from 1981 to 1983 at the University of California in San Diego.  Between 1988-2001, he served as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Cincinnati.  For the past 13 years, he has been the Chair of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University and Chair of the Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
Dr. Liu’s memberships in professional and scientific societies include  the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), NAMS, and the American Fertility Society. Dr. Liu has also served on the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Practice Committee for 6 years. Since 1982, Dr. Liu’s work as investigator or co-investigator has appeared in over 85 peer-reviewed journals, including JAMA, Menopause, Obstet Gynecol, Am J Obstet Gynecol, Menopause, Fertil Steril, and J Clin Endocrinol Metab; he served on the investigating team for the NIH’s Women’s Health Initiative Randomized Trial and is on the advisory committee for Study of Women Across the Nation (SWAN).  Dr. Liu also holds five patents on drug delivery.
