CLEVELAND and ASHLAND –
Samaritan Regional Health System (SRHS) in Ashland County and University Hospitals (UH) in Cleveland have announced they are entering into the process of signing a letter of intent to integrate SRHS into the UH system.
This announcement comes after a dedicated, year-long search identifying SRHS’s best options to continue the organization’s mission of “promoting the health and wellness of people in the communities served.” The recommendation to explore an affiliation with UH came from a special committee comprised of SRHS Board and medical staff leaders with assistance from experienced health care consultants.
SRHS, founded in 1912, is anchored by Samaritan Hospital, a 55-bed acute-care, inpatient facility. Twenty-four hour emergency department services are available at the hospital in addition to a state-of-the-art surgical suite and birthing and women’s unit. Satellite offices located throughout Ashland County offer convenient access to radiology and laboratory services, in addition to urgent care, pain care, occupational health and sleep medicine. The Samaritan Professional Corporation employs 35 physicians and primary care providers to meet the health care needs of the community.
