University Hospitals assumes ownership of Andover Health Center

Thursday, April 12, 2018
CLEVELAND -- University Hospitals, the second-largest health system based in Northeast Ohio, has purchased the Andover Health Center freestanding emergency department (ED), 476 South Main Street, Andover, from Mercy Health. Built in 1981, the Andover ED treats some 6,000 patients annually.

The change in ownership and the transition to University Hospitals will be effective May 1. Emergency care, including laboratory and imaging, as well as walk-in lab, X-ray and CT services will continue uninterrupted during the transition. The approximately 30 Mercy Health employees at the facility will become UH employees May 1.

“For more than 36 years, the Andover community has been part of our ministry,” says Kathy Cook, President of Mercy Health – St. Joseph Warren Hospital. “We wanted to be sure our Andover family is taken care of the best they can be, so we are fortunate to be able to support University Hospitals in this transition. We are confident UH will continue to care for our extended family for many years to come.”
