The new University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at UH Geauga Medical Center will open for patient care Monday, July 24. Under the direction of Judah Friedman, MD, it will be the only center in Geauga County offering comprehensive cancer care in one location.
UH Seidman Cancer Center has provided services at UH Geauga since 2008 and had outgrown its original space as patient volume has increased and outpatient cancer care has expanded, according to Dr. Friedman. “The new UH Seidman Cancer Center fills a growing need in Geauga County for state-of-the-art cancer care in a spacious facility, close to home,” he notes..
The 11,500 sq. ft. UH Seidman Cancer Center addition to the hospital building features 10 physician exam rooms for medical and radiation oncologists. Eighteen comfortable infusion bays where patients will receive chemotherapy each have a large window overlooking the woods, and radiation oncology is directly adjacent to the center for patient convenience and comfort. The center was designed to create a soothing patient environment with special touches such as a natural stone accent wall to create a calming ambiance.
