Elizabeth Louise Streby, MD, named New Chief Medical Officer of University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center

Elizabeth Louise Streby, MD, MSM, FACEP, has joined University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center as the new Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Streby comes to UH Elyria from the Cleveland Clinic’s Avon Hospital, where she has served since 2013 as Department Chair of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of the Emergency Department. She was responsible for oversight of clinical operations, staff, quality and safety for the ED at Avon Hospital. Dr. Streby has experience with both private practice and employed models of physician practice.

Prior to coming to Northeast Ohio to live closer to family, Dr. Streby spent a combined eight years working as an emergency medicine physician in Puyallup, Wash., near Mount Rainier and in Yosemite National Park in California.
She was medical director for several large EMS agencies in Pierce County, Wash. An avid skier and outdoor enthusiast, she also volunteered as a medical advisor and director for EMS services in Mount Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain Ski Patrol in Washington.  

A graduate of Washington and Lee University and University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Dr. Streby did her residency in Emergency Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center and the University of Washington. She has a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Management from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.

Dr. Streby and her husband have two daughters and reside in Lorain County.
