Vinnie Cimino, Chef/Partner of Cordelia, Named Best Restaurant in Cleveland, Hosts this Year’s Lineup of Internationally Renowned Chefs and Vintners

CLEVELAND – University Hospitals (UH) Seidman Cancer Center’s Five Star Sensation event, presented by Huntington Bank, will shine a culinary spotlight on Cleveland again this summer. This exclusive evening of food and wine, held on August 26, 2023, at Cuyahoga Community College in Highland Hills, Ohio, will return to its founding format, “Under the Tents”, for the first time since 2019. Chef Vinnie Cimino, Chef/Partner of Cordelia - named Best New Restaurant by Cleveland Magazine and one of 2022’s Best New Restaurant’s in the U.S. by TastingTable - leads the culinary talent as Host Chef. He will be joined by more than 50 acclaimed chefs and vintners from around the world.
 
Five Star Sensation, one of Cleveland’s most celebrated benefits, has raised more than $22 million for UH Seidman Cancer Center since the event began in 1987. This year’s Honorary Chairs are Jane and Lee Seidman and Theodoros Teknos, MD, President, and Scientific Director, UH Seidman Cancer Center and the Jane and Lee Seidman Chair in Cancer Innovation.
 
“Five Star is a remarkable fundraising event that has occurred every other year since 1987 and has raised critical funds to support our care of patients and their families,” said Teknos. “Under the leadership of co-chairs Ida Haber, Lisa and Kevin Chernikoff, and Margaret Singerman, we aim to raise $1.5 million to support innovation in cellular therapies through our Wesley Center for Immunotherapy, Phase 1 clinical trials, and community access to education and resources designed to address cancer health disparities.”

The evening includes a DJ and dancing, silent auction and tastings from a mix of 30 top savory and pastry chefs including Jeremy Umansky (Larder/Cleveland), Kelly English & Russell Casey (Restaurant Iris/Memphis), Jason Vincent (Giant/Chicago), Stephen Lewandowski (Townhouse/Greenwich, CT) and more.  
 
“I am thrilled to be hosting this year’s Five Star Sensation for our beloved city of Cleveland. As a part of the chef community, this is an opportunity for us to rally together for an important cause, that has likely touched us all in one way or another,” says Cimino.

Festivities will kick off with a sneak peek hosted by Cimino at Cordelia on June 1 from 12-2pm at 2058 East 4^th St. Guests and media will have a chance to taste signature bites, specialty cocktails and hear from UH CEO, Dr. Cliff Megerian, President and Scientific Director, Seidman Cancer Center, Ted Teknos as well as the event co-chairs.
