University Hospitals Conneaut and Geneva medical centers each received a top rating of five stars for patient experience, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) summary rating system.
The system is based on ten publicly reported measures in the 2019 Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey
. CMS publishes star ratings on Hospital Compare to help patients choose a hospital based on patient experience. CMS quality ratings are one of many resources consumers should consider in making informed health care decisions.
Nationally, CMS designated the five star rating to 266 hospitals in the United States, which is about eight percent of all rated hospitals.
“We are honored to be recognized as five star hospital for patient experience,” said Jason Glowczewski, PharmD, MBA, FASHP, Chief Operating Officer at UH Conneaut and Geneva Medical Centers. “In addition to performing well across a variety of quality measures, only 11 hospitals in Ohio were recognized as five star patient satisfaction hospitals.
