University Hospitals West Market Leaders Ascend to New Roles

University Hospitals has announced expanded roles for West Market leaders as part of an operating model that aims to deliver the highest value health care for patients, payers, employers and the communities we serve. The UH West Market includes UH Elyria, Parma, Samaritan and St. John medical centers, affiliated UH health centers and other patient access points in the western region of Northeast Ohio.

Brian Monter, MSN, RN, MBA, moves into the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the West Market. Monter also will continue to serve in a dual role as President of UH Parma Medical Center. West Market hospital presidents will report to him, and he will report to the system COO. Monter began his career as a cardiac nurse and came to UH in 2016 to serve as President of UH Bedford and Richmond medical centers, campuses of UH Regional Hospitals, and transitioned to UH Parma in 2019.

Kim Togliatti-Trickett, MD, Chief Medical Officer for UH Parma, assumes the role of Associate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the West Market. In this capacity, Dr. Togliatti-Trickett will report to the system Chief Medical Officer. She will support UH’s West Market CMOs and UH goals for value-focused care and integrated delivery. Dr. Togliatti-Trickett is a practicing physical medicine and rehabilitation / internal medicine physician who has provided strong clinical and administrative leadership for the UH Parma medical community over many years.

Ben Farber, DNP, RN, Chief Nursing Officer for UH Elyria Medical Center, assumes oversight responsibilities for nursing across the West Market as the Associate Chief Nursing Officer. This role will report to the system Chief Nursing Executive and work closely with Monter, Dr. Togliatti-Trickett and other UH nursing leaders. Farber will continue to serve UH Elyria. Prior to joining UH, Farber was Chief Nursing Officer for Sacred Heart Medical Center - University District, within PeaceHealth, a 10-hospital health system serving Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.

James Hill, MD, MBA, CPE, Associate Chief Medical Officer for UH Parma, will assume the Chief Medical Officer position at UH Parma as Dr. Togliatti-Trickett and Monter take on their expanded responsibilities. Dr. Hill came to UH in 2015 as Chief of Trauma Anesthesiology and played a key role in developing UH Cleveland Medical Center’s Level 1 trauma center. He was named system Medical Director in 2016 and led all aspects of UH blood management operations. At UH Parma, he has been a driver of improvements in quality and patient experience. He will continue to report to Dr. Togliatti-Trickett.
