CHICAGO — Becker's Hospital Review is pleased to release the 2023 edition of its “Great healthcare leaders to know” list. Healthcare leaders define the vision, culture and future of their organizations, acting as a guiding light when the path forward is unclear. The strong leaders included in this list are expertly navigating the ever-changing landscape of modern healthcare.

The list celebrates leaders for the strides they’ve made in innovation, inclusivity and access to quality care. Becker's Healthcare is thrilled to shine a light on these leaders, whose exemplary work is contributing to the transformation of the healthcare system.

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team accepted nominations for this list. The list was created to spotlight leaders from healthcare organizations across the nation.

Cliff Megerian, MD, CEO of University Hospitals (Cleveland) was recognized on the list: Dr. Megerian leads University Hospitals, a health system with 21 hospitals, over 50 health centers and outpatient facilities, over 200 physicians offices and annual revenues totaling $5.4 billion. He joined the health system in 2002 and has since served in leadership roles, ultimately leading to his appointment as CEO in 2021. Dr. Megerian is credited with increasing physician productivity to its highest level, as well as raising physician engagement and research funding. He has been named the inaugural Jane and Henry Meyer Chief Executive Officer Distinguished Chair and recently co-authored the second edition of a major surgical textbook, Surgery of the Cerebellopontine Angle.
