University Hospitals Breaks Ground on Health Campus in Amherst

AMHERST, Ohio – University Hospitals broke ground Nov. 1 on a health campus at the southeast corner of Route 2 and the Oak Point Road interchange, developed by Monument Healthcare Development. The UH Amherst health campus will include a two-story medical office building and a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center.
The ambulatory surgery center, UH Amherst Beaver Creek Surgery Center (UHABC), will provide medical and surgical specialty services and other ancillary services close to home for Lorain County residents. UH expects the UHABC Surgery Center (ASC) to welcome patients in the first quarter of 2024.
The UHABC Surgery Center will be a joint venture with existing UH partner ValueHealth and key local physicians. In late 2020, University Hospitals announced that it had formed a joint venture with ValueHealth to expand its ambulatory surgical network. ValueHealth is the nationally recognized leader in value-based surgical care that will accelerate UH’s ability to provide innovative health care services to the communities it serves.

With five operating rooms and one procedure room, the UHABC Surgery Center will focus on orthopedic surgical procedures, with the capacity for 800 total joint replacement cases per year. Six recovery-focused suites will be located in the same building as part of the Muve orthopedic program, a clinically proven care delivery model for ambulatory surgical centers offered by ValueHealth. General orthopedic, spine, ear, nose and throat and pain management services will also be provided on-site.

In addition to the ambulatory surgery center, the new UH Amherst health campus will include a medical office building which will house physicians and other providers in a variety of medical and surgical specialties and other ancillary services.
