September 14, 2021
CLEVELAND – Governor Mike DeWine has appointed Tod J. (T.J.) Grimm, Director of Retail and Ambulatory Pharmacy Services at UH since 2018, to the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. As one of nine members, Mr. Grimm will administer and enforce laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the legal distribution of drugs. He will serve a four-year term. In his role at UH, Mr. Grimm oversees UH retail outpatient pharmacies, the pharmacists who work actively in primary care physician offices, and the UH innovative concierge virtual pharmacy clinic.
He is an active member of The Ohio Pharmacist Association (OPA,) past president, and former chair of the Economics Committee. Before arriving at UH, Mr. Grimm had long been an advocate for the underserved community, frequently lobbying and providing testimony before the Ohio legislature to expand pharmacy services and enhance underserved patient outcomes.
He notes that this appointment to the Pharmacy Board positions him to help craft the operationalizing legislation allowing UH and Ohio’s pharmacy community to maximize care for all of our patients, particularly for the underserved and the working poor.
Mr. Grimm is also confident that working with expert UH hospital-based pharmacists gives him unique insights to better understand patients’ and caregivers’ needs in a hospital setting. With that insight, he can influence quality of care and outcomes for patients statewide.
