International Leader in Cancer Research at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center Passes Away

Nathan Berger, MD, Ph.D was Chief of the Hematology and Oncology Division of University Hospitals.
CLEVELAND – It is with great sadness University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center announces the passing of Dr. Nathan Berger on June 16, 2024.
Since joining the University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University community in 1983, Dr. Berger has been an international leader in cancer research and clinical care. He was the founding director of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Chief of the Hematology and Oncology Division of University Hospitals, Dean of the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a CWRU Distinguished Professor. His remarkable career resulted in over 200 peer-reviewed publications and continuous funding from the NIH, as well as innumerable honors and awards.
As a staunch advocate for diversity and mentorship, he created and led the Scientific Enrichment and Opportunity Program for minority students for the Cleveland Metropolitan High Schools. His mentorship, keen wit, leadership and advocacy will be missed by all.
