RAVENNA, Ohio – University Hospitals (UH) Portage Medical Center revealed a state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine Department featuring new technology that will provide patients with access to advanced imaging and procedures close to home.

The nuclear medicine SPECT-CT technology utilizes sophisticated imaging techniques and radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, including heart disease, cancer, and bone disorders. The enhancements are possible thanks to a nearly $1 million donation from the Portage Medical Center Foundation.

“This investment in advanced nuclear medicine technology allows UH Portage Medical Center to provide patients with faster, more accurate diagnoses and effective treatments, and allows people to stay local to get treatment that can save their lives,” said Edward Bury, MD, Chair, Department of Radiology at UH Portage Medical Center.

This latest addition continues UH Portage Medical Center’s commitment to bringing more advanced treatments and technologies to Portage County patients. Over the past year, UH Portage Medical Center completed multi-million-dollar renovations to its Breast Health Center and Catheterization & Electrophysiology Department.
