University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Among Most Reputable Academic Medical Centers
February 04, 2025
CLEVELAND -- University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is one of the most recognizable hospitals among doctors in the U.S. and around the world, according to an annual survey.
UH Cleveland Medical Center was ranked eighth in the U.S. and 16th globally in a survey of the strongest Academic Medical Center brands, according to Brand Finance, a London-based brand valuation consultancy.
“This ranking is a reflection of all we do at University Hospitals to provide compassionate care for patients, work to find the next generation of therapies and treatments, invest in our facilities and, most of all, listen to our caregivers,” said UH CEO Cliff A. Megerian, MD, FACS, Jane and Henry Meyer Chief Executive Officer, Distinguished Chair. “We do these things to support our mission and serve our community.”
The study surveyed more than 2,500 healthcare professionals and evaluated 24 metrics for Academic Medical Centers across 30 countries. Topics covered included patient treatment, medical research, training and education.
Building a strong brand is essential to attracting outstanding doctors, student applicants, prominent research staff, garnering support from donors, and building a network of partners, said Brand Finance CEO David Haigh.
“Among the world’s top Academic Medical Centers, the stakeholder audience expands beyond the local area as influence reaches around the world – although many patients may still be local, the research and procedures developed will be relevant globally, and top medical staff will travel and study to bring the reputation and brand to wider audiences,” Haigh said.
UH Cleveland Medical Center is affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University, the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and the University of Oxford – whose medical center was recognized as second overall in the Brand Finance survey.
“These rankings reflect the deliberate way we have built partnerships around the world to be on the forefront of discovery research that drives the development of new cures,” said Daniel Simon, MD, UH President, Academic & External Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer, Ernie and Patti Novak Distinguished Chair.
UH Cleveland Medical Center President Stathis Antoniades, MPH, FABC, said: “UH Cleveland Medical Center serves as the Academic Medical Center for our system, where we focus on bringing together the best from our research, education and clinical programs to deliver the highest quality and most compassionate care to our patients. While this type of recognition is not what drives what we do, it is gratifying that healthcare professionals from a broad range of hospitals and practice areas recognize UH across the country and around the world as a leading Academic Medical Center.”
