CLEVELANDUniversity Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital welcomes Kristen C. Iniguez, DO, FAAP, as a pediatrician specializing in child abuse and trauma. Dr. Iniguez is the only child abuse pediatrician in Cuyahoga County doing this critical work full-time and will be a vital member of UH Rainbow, and the Canopy Child Advocacy Center’s child protection team.

Dr. Iniguez joins UH Rainbow after serving as the medical director of the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center in Wisconsin, where she spent over a decade evaluating children affected by physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and trauma. She brings invaluable expertise to Northeast Ohio, reinforcing UH Rainbow’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring their well-being.

“Dr. Iniguez is a highly regarded pediatrician and child advocate, with specialized skills that are rare but critical to safeguarding children,” said Marlene R. Miller, MD, MSc, Pediatrician-in-Chief at University Hospitals and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. “We are proud to bring her leadership and experience to our patients and families in Northeast Ohio.”

Dr. Iniguez received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Advocate Children’s Hospital. She has delivered numerous presentations on child abuse and trauma, making significant contributions to the field. Dr. Iniguez has also been involved with various initiatives, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Child Advocacy Centers of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Task Force on Children in Need, and the Drug Endangered Children Steering Committee.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Iniguez has extensive experience collaborating with elected officials to advance child advocacy and protection legislation. Her ongoing research focuses on understanding how child protection professionals—such as law enforcement officers and child protective services workers—respond to trauma and adversity.

Dr. Iniguez started seeing patients at UH Rainbow in January 2025.
