University Hospitals Establishes UH AirMed Base in Ashtabula County

CLEVELAND - University Hospitals is increasing the presence of emergency, critical, and specialty care in Ashtabula County by establishing a base for UH AirMed at the Northeast Ohio Regional Airport in Jefferson, Ohio. UH AirMed is the medical helicopter, critical care ground, and specialty care advanced life support transport program at University Hospitals dedicated to safely transporting critically ill and injured patients across Northeast Ohio.
The opening of this base in Ashtabula County ensures the community will have access to potentially lifesaving air medical and ground transport services. The addition of these capabilities features a skilled team of caregivers well prepared to deliver comprehensive clinical services, using advanced equipment, and ready to handle the diverse medical needs of the community with precision and expertise for situations including pre-hospital emergency response by air, and hospital-to-hospital transfers.

This newest location is the third helicopter base in Northeast Ohio that is staffed 24 hours each day. UH AirMed adds the new Jefferson base to the established helicopter bases in Geauga and Medina counties. The superior response times of UH AirMed provides immediate access to advanced care that can improve patient outcomes. UH AirMed’s fleet of aircraft are equipped with the latest advanced aviation technologies, equipped with twin-engines and complete IFR capabilities. UH AirMed helicopters can fly under a range of weather conditions and provide enhanced 24/7 access to verified trauma, stroke, and STEMI centers across northeastern Ohio.
