University Hospitals and Reserve Care Announce Next Phase of Hospice and Palliative Care Partnership

CLEVELAND — University Hospitals and Reserve Care today announced the next phase of their longstanding relationship, with plans to conclude operations of Reserve Care Hospice at University Hospitals, their hospice joint venture, effective Jan. 1, 2027.

For nearly eight years, Reserve Care Hospice at University Hospitals, formerly Hospice of the Western Reserve at University Hospitals, has been a successful and collaborative joint venture. Together, University Hospitals and Reserve Care have cared for thousands of patients and families across Northern Ohio, providing high-quality hospice care at some of life’s most critical moments.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, University Hospitals and Reserve Care have been evaluating how the organizations can best work together to meet the changing needs of patients and families. That includes ensuring access to high-quality hospice care while exploring opportunities to reach more people through community-based serious illness management and palliative care.

Through those discussions, the organizations determined they can continue providing hospice and palliative care services and pursue new opportunities together outside of the current joint venture structure.

Reserve Care will continue its relationship with University Hospitals as a preferred provider of hospice and palliative care services, supporting the organizations’ shared commitment to patient-centered care and expanding opportunities to serve more patients and families in need.

Both organizations will work closely together through the transition to ensure continuity of care for patients and families currently receiving services through the joint venture.
